Farewell Parade for outgoing Chairman NCC Dr Arthur Beng
A significant milestone for the Corps and for Dr Beng – imagine, 23 years of service to the NCC and being so instrumental in instituting so many significant and historical policies for the Corps!
Dr Beng commenced service as Chairman of the NCC in 1987 and since then had relentlessly pursued with a passion the well being and development of the organization he served.
The parade commenced at 1830 hours, even though before that it poured and it seemed that we would have to abort. There were sporadic showers of blessing during the parade but the Command Band stood firm.
MSG Hoon Wei Ern conducted the entire parade with great confidence.
A slightly different parade from the rest, we had the Freestyle Drill team, Precision Drill Team and the Air Knights showcased before the Singapore National Cadet Corps Command Band Swiss Winds closed the parade with a rendition of Sing Sing Sing when we commissioned our new drums from the Corps.
We marched out with Bandstand and the NCC Song slow marching to it as we gave the final salute to our outgoing Chairman, Dr Arthur Beng.
Another note of significance was the presence of our Principal, Mr Liu Earnler, for the occasion. He is the first principal who has actually attended and observed all the the Band has to do for a parade and post parade!
Jazzination continued with the post parade segment, conducted by Mr Saiful Azzam, our alumnus who is the coodinator for Jazzination and also for The Associates, our alumni Combo band.
The Ensemble supported the entire evening’s proceedings and provided the musical support. I must say that Jazzination sounded extremely polished and superb! Thank you for the music!
A final musical tribute was paid by MSG Chelo Lee, Max Imapact and Jazzination to Dr Beng with a rendition of his favourite piece of music, You Raise Me Up, by Josh Gorban.
We did a flash mob concept with Max Impact appearing in all parts of the hall and performing next to the diners.
Dr Beng ended the evening’s proceedings with an impromptu closing address. What was suprising was that he chose to comment and commend on the Command Band Swiss Winds as an example of how the Corps can further proceed in developing, as in how we came in as a school band to provide musical support for NCC events and eventually took on the role of The Command Band for the Corps.
We played Dr Beng off with his final requested piece of music, Onward Christian Soldiers.
Thank you, Dr Arthur Beng, for all that you have done for the NCC and even more for all that you have done for The Singapore National Cadet Corps Command Band Swiss Winds!

NCC Cadet Officer Graduation Parade

Max Impact provided the musical support for this event. This Graduation Parade was a watershed of sorts both for Corps and the Command Band.
For the Corps it was the first time we had 6 Air Cadet Trainee Officers from the USA join the course and participate in the Graduation Parade.
For the Command Band it marks the 10th Anniversary of our inauguration as part of the NCC. Thank you Dr Arthur Beng, Chairman NCC Council, and the Corps for letting us be part of you!
How time flies! Never seem to notice it when you are having fun!
